John Malkovich Bio

Biography:
Born: December 9th 1953 in Christopher, Ill. Malkovich grew up in Benton, Ill. Father: Dan M. State conservation director(died 1980) Mother: Owned a small news paper Height: 6 foot, 1 inch Weight: Unknown His name comes from his grand parents who moved from Croatia to the States. He's not one of those people who are obsessed with heritage, though, he sees himself as 100% American. As a child he suffered from obesity(he weighed more than 230 pounds), but he overcame this by simply going on an all Jell-O and Lime diet. In high school he was an athlete, played guitar and tuba as well. Went to Eastern Illinois and Illinois state Universities. Used to work as a bookstore clerk(wish I'd been there buying books!), a dishwasher and a busdriver. 1976: At the age of 23 he set up the Steppenwolf Theatre company along with Gary Sinise(co-star in Of Mice and Men) and Laurie Metcalfe. It is now very famous. Malkovich earned an Obie award for True West. He also earned an Emmy for his role in Death of a Salesman. Nominations: Oscar noms for his parts in Places in the Heart (Some even tell me he did win that Oscar, but I have no proof of that, so I'll keep it at a nomination base) and In the Line of Fire. Golden Globe nom for In the Line of Fire He's is known to have a terrible temper, and he says himself that he's not a nice person to be around when he loses it! Other actors have said about him that his ideal of normality is anything but normal.
